TRANNY LIFE - Help and FAQ's

Q. I am trying to watch theVideos on your site, but they do not load… What am I doing wrong?

A. 'You are doing nothing wrong. To watch the vast amount of audio/video features , you require two pieces of software. In most cases there are two options when selecting audio/video content on Trannylife: Microsoft's Internet Explorer 4.0 or higher & Microsoft's Windows Media Player 7.01 or higher. All you need to do is make sure you have the software installed and ready on your computer before attempting to click on the link.

Q. HELP!, I am confused by the speed selection buttons when I want to watch a Video, can you please explain to me the different options and which speed is best suited to my requirements?

A. I think the best way to cover this problem is to explain each of the buttons individually. So here we go. ..

Broadband is designed for users with a high speed connection of at least a Cable Modem, but preferably an ADSL connection will achieve the best results.

Medium is for people with medium speed connection of at least 35kps, though a ISDN line is the preferred speed for this option during peak hours of the day.

Low is for users with slower connections and will work fine on as little as a 28k modem. 56.6k though will achieve best results with this option.

If you are using a 56k modem try medium first if you cant get a good conection then use low.
Please remember that these are approximate guidelines only and results may vary depending on your location and the time of day you make your connection.

Q. I can hear the sound but I'm not getting any picture.

A. Generally this fault is caused by there not being enough bandwidth (the rate data is received by your computer) to support the video stream speed that you selected or occasionally WMP (Windows Media Player) may return an incorrect speed while automatically detecting your connection. However, there is a setting change you can make that will help to prevent this. All you have to do is: in WMP select 'Tools:Options' and then the 'Performance' tab, here you will be able to manually specify your connection speed (ie: 56k, ISDN, ADSL ect). If you do not have WMP on your computer you can download it here

Q. I can't see any of your media on my Mac, i've got broadband & Windows Media Player 7+?

A. This fault occurs with media encoded as 'multiple bitrate' files. This fault only effects connections of greater than 56k and a workaround can be implemented by simply following these instructions: First run your media player, once you have done that, at the top of the screen select the 'Edit' drop down menu then the 'Preferences' option from the menu. In the preferences dialog box you should select the tab marked 'Connection', here you can manually specify your connection speed, we recommend that you limit your connection to 56kbps as this speed will play over most connections.

We were notified of this problem (by Microsoft). Microsoft do not expect a fix for this fault to be included in the next release of the Mac Media Player, however they do expect it to be in the next release after that.

IMPORTANT: For more information on any issues regarding the playing back of media on the Mac you should visit Microsoft on this link.

Q. I am watching the videos on your site that have slides. When the slide loads the video stops and buffers.

A. This is happing because the slides are not preloading. The preload function only works with Internet Explorer 4.0 or above.
